Dietary Supplements

The Federal Dietary Supplemental Health and Education Act defines a dietary supplement as any "product intended to supplement the diet that bears or contains one or more of the following dietary ingredients: a vitamin, mineral, amino acid, herb or other botanical substance intended for ingestion in the form of capsule, powder, softgel, or gelcap, and not represented as a conventional food or as a sole item of a meal or the diet." What this means is that virtually any company can make any claim that their product can treat any condition, often ranging from cures for cancer to aids to prevent erectile dysfunction to helping increase metabolism and lose weight.

Most of these claims are only nominally backed up by any kind of professional testing, and few if any have made the appropriate cross-checks to ensure there is no severe drug, food, or allergy interaction. The spread of internet marketing of dietary supplements has introduced millions of people to potentially dangerous supplements.  Without adequate knowledge of the risks involved with any dietary supplements, many people take these products in the hope of changing their lives for the better, but unfortunately the opposite is far more common.

Some of the more dangerous of these are steroid-containing drugs like Anabolic Xtreme Superdol and Methyl-1- These particular products can potentially lead to liver toxicity, testicular atrophy and male infertility, masculinization of women, breast enlargement in males, and short stature in children, as well as increasing the risk of heart attack and stroke.

If you have taken a dietary supplement that caused you undue pain and suffering, you mat be entitled to take legal action against those responsible for your condition. You must hurry, for statute of limitation laws can restrict the amount of time you have to pursue your case, so contact a dietary supplement lawyer today.
