Ketek

By January 20, 2006, doctors linked the popular antibiotic Ketek to three cases of liver failure, and one death in patients in a North Carolina hospital.  The Food and Drug Administration has begun to investigate a large number of potential cases of further liver problems caused by Ketek that were not properly reported and diagnosed, and issued a public health advisory to alert patients and health professionals of the potential risks.

Ketek became extremely popular after the Food and Drug Administration approved it in 2004 to treat dangerous and acute bacterial infections such as bacterial sinusitis, chronic bronchitis, and exposure-related pneumonia.  Ketek is not designed to treat viral infections, so if patients take it for the incorrect reasons they will likely suffer the side effects without receiving any benefit. The FDA has not initiated a Ketek recall, but rather a Ketek warning in the cases of liver failure and other side effects. Many Ketek attorneys and Ketek lawyers have begun consluting clients in potential liver failure lawsuits.

The initial reports surrounding Ketek were brought to the attention of health professionals at the Carolinas Medical Center, due to the severity of the liver-related problems.  There were a number of serious Ketek side effects. One patient suffered a Ketek death, another had to have a liver transplant due to liver failure, and the last victim developed a serious case of drug-induced hepatitis.  The significant factor in the last case was the hepatitis disappeared after doctors stopped using Ketek.

If you or someone you know was injured by Ketek, you could be entitled to take legal action against those responsible for your condition and begin your Ketek liver lawsuit. Furthermore, you may be able to collect financial compensation for your pain and suffering, but if you wait too long you risk losing your right to pursue your case because of state Ketek statute of limitation laws.  Make a stand, and contact a dedicated and experienced Ketek attorney today.
