Seroquel
Seroquel is a popular antipsychotic drug created by AstraZeneca intended to treat the debilitating and devastating disease schizophrenia that has recently been linked to dire consequences for patients, including diabetes, juvenile diabetes, pancretitis, diabetic coma and death.
Drugs such as Seroquel help to alleviate schizophrenia by balancing two major brain chemicals called serotonin and dopamine, but like many other antipsychotic drugs, Seroquel is known to cause a number of side effects that reduce its viability as a solution to schizophrenia.
Seroquel is known to unexpectedly raise blood sugar while increasing insulin resistance, hastening the onset of diabetes. Unchecked diabetes can result in an immediate medical emergency, and can cause blindness, coma, and even death. In fact Seroquel had 3.34 times the number of cases of diabetes than other drugs, representing the greatest risk of any antipsychotic drug.
Problems with Seroquel: Side Effects
The adverse reaction of Seroquel to blood sugar also causes a number of other devastating effects, such as pancreatitis, a dangerous condition of the pancreas that in severe cases can lead to diabetes, coma, or ketoacidosis. These imbalances in blood sugar levels can also lead to a diabetic coma, a life threatening state caused by abnormally low levels of blood sugar. In the most tragic situations, if left unchecked these types of problems can have fatal consequences and can result in the death of unsuspecting patients.
If Seroquel caused you or someone you love to develop any of these serious side effects, you may be entitled to take legal action to reclaim losses based on your situation. You must act quickly, for if you hesitate the statute of limitation laws in your state could end your case before it has a chance to begin. Contact a dedicated and experienced Seroquel lawyer today.
