Viagra

Viagra is the most popular erectile dysfunction drug on the market.  The Food and Drug Administration approved Viagra in 1998, and since then Pfizer has sold an estimated 25 million prescriptions to men of every age around the world.  Viagra opens up the constricted capillaries to allow blood to circulate, but the drug does not discriminate which capillaries it opens and can cause a number of serious side effects such as dizziness, runny nose, and light headedness.

Unfortunately, Viagra is also known to cause a serious condition called nonarteritic ischemic optic neuropathy, or NAION.  NAION is caused by the lack of blood circulation to the optic nerve, which can result in vision irregularities and eventually total and irreversible blindness.  Essentially, Viagra users suffer a “stroke” inside their optic nerve

By May 27, 2005, the Food and Drug Administration reported 38 reports of Viagra-induced blindness.  In order to prevent further damage, the FDA recommend a label on Viagra packaging to indicate that there could be a significant risk of blindness or other vision problems.  Furthermore, an additional study revealed that men who had cardiovascular problems demonstrated a 10 fold increase of optic nerve injury if they take ED drugs.

If you or someone you know was injured due to Viagra use, you could be entitled to pursue financial compensation for your pain and suffering.  You need to act quickly though, because statute of limitation laws in your state could prevent you from getting the financial restitution you deserve.  Contact a dedicated and experienced legal professional, and get started on your case today.
